Originally formed in 1998, Spookie Jar has been on a steady rise in popularity. The band's first project called Sayther Drake, had material with radio airplay on the KATT radio station in Oklahoma City. Since then, in 1999, a member lineup occurred that included new bassist Mick C. The band has been in a development stage and acquisition of new generation digital recording equipment. This has allowed the band to have full creative reign over the songwriting and recording processes.  Spookie Jar  is now promoting their new debut CD with live performances. Originality and creative control are the lynchpin to Spookie Jar's current success. All band members are 100% independently involved in every multi-faceted aspect of the mechanical, technical, creative songwriting, recording and personalized "street-team" promotion processes as well as CD artwork creation all the way down to this web site's administration.

The general line up of Terry Finch- Lead Guitars/Vocals, Mick Crawford- Bass/Backing Vocals, Kenny Driever-Rhythm Guitar and Raymond Fritz-Drums/Percussion have rooted their talents in the stable and reliable as the lineup has experienced only one member replacement over the past several years. The existence of Spookie Jar is more of an abstract visualization or image of being trapped in a jar as one would be in his or her own life about the things they cannot change. The walls that we all build around us and the freedoms that we take away in our own archetypical images of ourselves as our hopes and dreams of a higher consciousness is being eroded away daily by secular, politically correct eco-nazi succubi philosophies and propaganda. Spookie Jar is here to remind the "jar-makers" that against all odds and circumstances; a group of ordinary musicians with no more than their own creativity, hands and time, can make it through this level of being and make a success of themselves from their own real emotions and feelings of this world into the eternal language of music. This breeds hope for people on the same social strata that Spookie Jar has been cut from...from our Darkness will come Light.

The band Spookie Jar tirelessly slaves during the days doing their usual business in their respective industries. At night, members drive out to a secluded rural location in the barren lands of the Midwest Heartland and bring to the area a taste of energetic live rock and roll that hasn't been heard there in a long, long time. Influences ranging from Black Sabbath, Led Zepplin, Lynrd Skynrd, Metallica, Alice in Chains, Tool, Type O Negative and AC/DC, the collective talent and obvious inspirations of the aforementioned bands weave together to form a very clear image of what this band is all about. From the mellow guitarist's down-home sound of "What you Are" to the butt-kicking backbeat rhythms in "Passage" and "Far, Far", Spookie Jar does indeed have quite the dynamic domination and creative musical twists that make for a refreshing mix of old sounds mixed with the new. Great music is timeless and great music comes from musicians that actually play from the heart. Too many times these days do we constantly hear the newest rock hit from the infinite sound palettes of perfect computers and it's mad "Wizard of Oz" behind the mouse and keyboard in this new millennium. That just ain't rock music in Spookie Jar's opinion. This is just real rock and roll with well developed lyrics that can satisfy a wide spread of listeners from young to old. Rock is something original to American culture that externalizes the basic sets of idealisms that a vast majority possesses within us all. Spookie Jar has no intentions of letting that go. It's fun music to play. It's even more fun to hear and it can be a friendly "dipping of the toes" into the pool of what can be the the ultimate darkness- reality.

Without further adieu, the official individual biographies of the Spookie Jar lineup.

Mickedemus- Bass/Backing Vocals

Bassist Mick, the venerable musician of the band, has arenas of experience and interaction with crowds. You can admire the heart and energy this guy conducts when on stage. Brandishing a fretless bass with a wireless system, Mick is very involving with the crowd and gives them a sense of belonging and brings the house down with his mind-swimming bass solos. Kinetic energy is the key to Mick's success at the Oklahoma City Arts Festival and the Great State Fair of Oklahoma and has a natural, mysterious magnetism of charisma that attracts  crowds when he takes the stage. Mick has also collaborated on a studio project in 1997 for a film as his band wrote the entire soundtracks for a nationally released "gore movie" film called Blood Lake. Mick is not just a musician. He is one of the few great musical entertainers that the other members of Spookie Jar have ever encountered. Mick likes to brandish wicked clothing styles on stage and is every bit visually compelling as he is sonically. You can see the seasoning shake off this guy as he runs through the crowds, jumps on tables and intensifies the crowd up to a frenzy for entertainment for which they are starving. When Mick is not a rock god, he is a master welder/supervisor for a company that manufactures industrial HVAC units. Mick's experienced ears have spent countless late night sessions performing the recording, editing and mixing for Spookie Jar's debut CD Homespun.

Kenny Driever- Rhythm Guitar

Coming straight from the farm, this good 'ole boy has torn up the rhythm guitar and at a few Spookie Jar shows with his dead on rhythms and spiritual stage presence. Kenny's previous band played in northwest Oklahoma pubs in 1996-1997.  After seeing the southern alt-rock outfit we were really blown away when we first heard Kenny had only been playing for a year up to that point. Sporting a Les Paul Studio guitar plugged into his Carvin Legacy series amp. Kenny makes for a solid player on stage as well as in the studio. When he isn't playing music, Kenny D. is an explosives expert that gets paid to blow stuff up! Some guys get all the luck....

Terry Finch- Lead Guitar/Lead Vocals
This figment of our imagination is going to crawl down your throat with stinging southern bluesy alt-rock style of guitar and talented, dynamic extremes of vocals.  Hailing straight from the marshy banks of the North Canadian River. This half river rat, half-rock veteran hero is determined to make a success of the band collectively known as Spookie Jar. In between transmission overhauls, engine rebuilds, cedar harvesting operations and fixin' the water-well for his wife, Terry sports his Gibson Les Paul Studio Custom guitar with custom inlays plugged into his Marshall series half stack. Past experience includes Iota, Cheap Thrills and Razor Black. Terry is the driving creative force behind Spookie Jar's songs and has been a songwriter since long before most musicians out there today were merely a twinkle in their daddy's eyes. Most of the material on the Spookie Jar CD will feature Terry's songwriting prowess with melodies that will strike a chord in the hearts of the public.

Raymond Fritz- Concussions/Percussions

Ray is no stranger to the stage or studio as his numerous credits include the 1996 Flashback2 concert series sponsored by Budweiser in Illinois performing as percussionist on stage with Steve Hunter, (Alice Cooper's studio guitarist) bassist Polar Bear (One of Ted Nugent's studio bassists) and Kyle Lehning (Former president of Asylum/Capitol Records). Hailing originally from Illinois, Raymond has worked the local scene and the studio in other bands that included Iota, Last Laugh, Liquid, Slop Opera/Perfect Culture, Ethel, The Elite, Cool Man's Cousin as well as Spookie Jar's/ Sayther Drake studio sessions. Raymond started playing drums many years ago in the school band when the effects of the local high nitrate water mutated his drumming style from symphonic to metallic. Primary influences are (not in any particular order): Lynrd Skynrd, The Eagles, Led Zeppelin, The Doors, Bonham, Nirvana, The Melvins, Johnny Cash, Robert Johnson, Count Basie Orchestra, Stray Cats, Sex Pistols, Operation Ivy, Rancid, Motley Crue, Metallica, Deftones, Pantera, Prong, Smashing Pumpkins, Tool, Type O Negative, Alice In Chains and the theme song from 'Miami Vice'. Ray plays on a 5 piece set of 1969 Ludwig maple custom drums with a Gibraltar rack system, Alesis DM5 custom triggering system, Zildjian Z Custom cymbals and DW pedals-all paid for, so don't laugh. Outside of Raymond's interests in music, he is nothing. Raymond is currently working on setting up a home recording studio and helping to foster younger generations of bands.
